Dr. Maulana Karenga founded the Kwaanza celebration more than 50 years ago in 1966, after riots in Los Angeles. The American professor of Africana studies wanted to find a way to bring the community together.

Today, the principles and ritual of Kwaanza offer lessons for African families, not just at this time, but every day. In 2020, why not start your own Kwaanza celebration with your family? Stay safe.
