‘Arise’, the name of the monument that I’m standing next to

‘Arise’, the name of the monument that I’m standing next to.
Created in honour of our African ancestors, its primary designer is TT artist Gillian Bishop. According to media reports, Bishop says the monument symbolises various elements of the Emancipation movement in TT. It celebrates the “rebellious spirit of our African ancestors from enslavement, the Canboulay riots, the rise of steel pan, the 1970 Black Power Movement and more.”
More public symbols of recognition are needed, as well as the teaching of African history in schools and the establishment of a Museum of African history and culture. People of African heritage must know that they have contributed to the development of their nation and the world. But, small steps … Give thanks
